More than 4.5 million votes for the best pop-punk bands of all time

This edition of The People’s Playlist generated 4,553,672 total votes as fans battled to decide which band deserves the title of the greatest pop-punk band of all time.

The poll follows other massive fan rankings, including The Best Metal Bands of All Time and The Best Rock Band of All Time.

Green Day takes the top spot

Green Day claimed the title with 453,727 votes, finishing 46,605 votes ahead of Blink-182 - I honestly thought Blink would pull ahead to win this one. The Offspring secured third place with 354,727 votes, completing a podium dominated by three of the biggest bands to emerge from the 1990s punk explosion.

Paramore and Fall Out Boy were separated by only 207 votes

The closest battle in the entire poll came between Paramore and Fall Out Boy. Paramore finished fourth with 345,380 votes, narrowly defeating Fall Out Boy’s 345,173 votes by just 207 votes.

Sum 41 landed in sixth place, while Jimmy Eat World finished seventh with nearly 300,000 votes.

Surprises throughout the rankings

New Found Glory and Simple Plan were separated by only 1,617 votes, while Motion City Soundtrack defeated The Story So Far by just 2,283 votes.

The results also created plenty of debate. Yellowcard finished outside the Top 15, while newer-generation favorites Neck Deep and State Champs landed near the bottom of the rankings.

Every era of pop-punk is represented

The final results include early pop-punk pioneers, massive 2000s radio favorites, emo-influenced bands and modern groups carrying the genre into a new generation.

From Green Day, Blink-182 and The Offspring to The Wonder Years, Neck Deep and State Champs, nearly every major era of pop-punk earned a place in the final rankings.

Think the fans got it wrong?

Should Blink-182 have been number one?

Did Paramore deserve a spot in the Top 3?

Did Yellowcard finish way too low?

Which band was the biggest surprise?
